Krishnagiri: Water was released from the main irrigation canal of the Barur tank in Pochampalli taluk on Sunday for the first crop.
According to Collector Santhosh Babu water will be released from the tank from August 12 to December 24.
Beneficiaries
This would benefit 4729.25 acres. Water would be released from the East main canal and West main canal of the tank for the first 17 days and for the remaining days water would be released once in three days depending on the water level in the tank.
A total of 3,212.87 acres in the villages of Barur, Kilkuppam, Pendarahalli, Kottapatti, Jingalkadirampatti, and Dadampatti will be benefited through the release from the East main canal. Similarly, a total of 1,516.38 acres in the villages of Barur, Kilkuppam, Arasampatti and Pendarahalli would be benefited through the release from the West main canal, Mr. Babu added. Revenue Divisional Officer C. Prakasam, D.A. Meghanathan, MLA, were present.
