KANNUR: The Coir Board is planning to train 3,970 women workers in the State during the current financial year in spinning. A press release issued by the Coir Board regional office here said that a trainers’ training programme in the spinning sector of the coir industry had commenced at Edakkadavu here on August 1. The trainers would be deployed in different field training units proposed to be organised by the regional office in the Malabar region. The release said that 70 per cent of the total women workers proposed to be trained would be from this region.
