Amanpreet Singh (551) and Zakir Khan (535) joined Amit Kumar for India’s fifth-place finish in the team championship in standard pistol event with 1649 points while Tejas Kusale (574-54th ) and Ravi Kumar Jatav (570-58th) contributed to the Indian team’s 13th position in the air rifle event with 1731 points. In men’s trap, Prithviraj Tondaiman (85/100) ended up 22nd while Sidhartha Pawar (78) finished 26th. In skeet Allan Peoples (91/100) finished 18th while Man Singh (87) and Sobrab Gill (84) were 23rd and 30th and last. Seventeen swimmers in three other heats put together broke four minutes with American Michael Patrick clocking 3:49.59, the fastest among the qualifiers for the final. In the men’s 100m butterfly heats Tarun Tokas was sixth with a time of 1: 02.55. In the slowest heat in women’s 200m freestyle, Prajakta Khangan (2:24.69) and Rajni Tokas (2:39.00) finished first and third in a three-woman field. In athletics, Monica Joon ended up 14th among 16 starters in the women’s discus final with 41.03 metres. Cuban Yarelys Barrios Castaneda won the gold with 61.36m.
