Students exposed to fire-fighting techniques

TIRUCHI: Students and teachers of the Government Special Higher Secondary School, Mathur, Pudukottai district, gained first hand knowledge of fire fighting techniques, when the Lions Club of Mathur conducted a special fire awareness programme on the school premises recently. The programme was conducted in connection with the 60th Independence Day celebrations.

Led by Suri Narayanan, Fire Officer, Ordnance Factory, Tiruchi, and Venkataswamy, a fire-safety engineer and a member of the Lions Club, conducted a live demonstration. They were imparted training in handling the fire extinguishers and other equipments.

The Zonal Chairman of the Lions International, P. S. P. Palaniappan presided. The president of the Lions Club of Mathur, M. Muniappan and the assistant headmaster of the school, Sivakumar spoke.
