Crop loss put at Rs 1.35 crore

ADILABAD: Standing crop in an estimated 3,000 hectares was inundated in four mandals situated on the banks of Pranahita and Penganga rivers in Adilabad district as the rivers swelled up between August 8 and August 10. The damage was put at Rs. 1.35 crore in a preliminary assessment report. The mandals in which the crop was inundated were Sirpur (T), Bejjur, Koutala and Dahegaon. Crop was also damaged to some extent in Vemanpalli and Kotapalli mandals.
A report on the crop damage which was sent to the Government, says that soyabean and cotton standing crop was affected. Soyabean was inundated in about 1,800 hectares while cotton in about 800 hectares was submerged. Redgram in about 400 hectares was also affected.
