Sena warns of agitation
MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena has threatened to take to the streets if the Maharashtra Government implemented the Srikrishna Commission’s recommendations out of “vendetta” for Hindus and said “justice should be allowed to take its own course.”
Rioters
Addressing a rally of BEST Workers Union, the Shiv Sena’s executive president Uddhav Thackeray said it was his party which had taken to the streets and fought rioters as otherwise “Mumbai would have burnt.”
“If the government wants to implement the Srikrishna Commission report on 1992-93 Mumbai riots out of vendetta, then the Shiv Sena will not keep quiet. We will take to the streets. In such cases, the judicial process should be followed,” Mr. Uddhav said on Saturday evening.
The party had maintained that it was opposed to implementing the Srikrishna Commission’s recommendations. — PTI
