SPIRIT OF FREEDOM: As the country prepares to celebrate its 60th year of Independence, students of Sri Venkateshwara Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tirukkukarnam, hold aloft the tri-colour. Holding the flag high
Students of Sri Venkateshwara Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Tirukkukarnam, Pudukottai, are in an upbeat mood. They already launched the 60th Independence Day celebrations in their school. Sixty students, waving the national flag, lined up atop the main building of the school before prayer every day for the last 10 days. During prayer, they delivered speeches on the freedom struggle and the sacrifices made by the leaders in order to fr ee the country from the clutches of the British. Association inaugurated
The Ruskin English Literary Association was inaugurated at Sri Venkateswara Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Thanjavur. P. Muthusivam, head, Department of English, Kings Engineering College, was the chief guest. He said the English literary associations should encourage students to show proficiency in speaking and writing. Two dramas — Twelfth Nig ht and Krishna Deva Raya — were staged by students. An elocution contest was conducted. G. Jayashankar, academic director of the school, and S. Gowri, Principal, spoke.
