Tree planting campaign held

TOWARDS A GREENER INDIA: The Scouts unit of the Punitha Arockya Annai Higher Secondary School, Keeranur, at a tree planting campaign held recently at the school. CONCERN: N. Judson, Special Trainer, Road Safety Patrol

The Scouts unit of the Punitha Arockya Annai Higher Secondary School, Keeranur, Pudukottai district, participated in a mass sapling planting campaign on the school premises recently. They also erected a fence to protect the trees.

In his presidential address, Headmaster Rev. A. Sahaya Jayakumar underlined the importance of increasing the forest cover for maintenance of ecological balance in the earth. NSS coordinator V.F. Samidoss spoke on the need for protecting the environment. Scouts master S. Antonysamy explained the various activities undertaken by the Scouts volunteers.

Road safety programme held

A road safety awareness programme was conducted at the Mount Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Pudukottai, recently. N. Judson, Special Trainer, Road Safety Patrol, was the chief guest. He stressed the importance of following road rules and urged the students to create awareness on the issue among the people.

He suggested the formation of a Road Safety Patrol unit in the school. Road safety kits were handed over to about 50 students. M. Marayan, sub-inspector of police, Jonathan Jayabarathan, senior principal, and S. Ravikumar, principal, spoke.
