CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday appealed to the people, especially the women, to celebrate the traditional festival of Teej with fervour and gaiety as it would strengthen the bonds of love and amity in society. Speaking at the Teej celebrations in Kalka, Mr. Hooda said festivals were an integral part of the Indian culture and traditions and Teej was a special occasion for the womenfolk. Also associated with the Hindu month of Sawan, Teej holds out a message to preserve the environment, said Mr. Hooda, urging the people to take a solemn pledge to plant trees. The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula, Neerja Sekhar, to carry out renovation work at the Kalka Community Centre on priority.
