Competitions for students

BANGALORE: The Mysore-based Vishwamanava Vidyarthi Yuva Vedike will conduct State-level cultural competitions on August 29 and 30 at Kalamandira in Mysore.

Vedike President M.J. Suresh Gowda told presspersons here on Monday that more than 10,000 students from 1,000-odd educational institutions will take part in 18 competitions.

On the first day, the students will vie for honours in light classical music, folk music, fancy dress, rangoli, dance dramas based on Kuvempu’s poems and dance events. The winners would get an opportunity to participate in Dasara festival.
