Varanasi: Thousands of devotees from across the country on Monday performed ‘Jalabhishek’ in the Kashi Vishwanath temple and other Lord Shiva shrines here on the occasion of the second Monday of the Hindu calendar month of ‘Shravan.’ The devotees comprising saffron-clad ‘Kanwarias’ thronged the temple since late Sunday night and stood in long queues to perform ‘Jalabhishek’ and other rituals. A large number of pilgrims also visited the Vishwanath temple on the BHU campus, Maha Mritunjaya temple, Omkareshwar temple, Til Bhandeshwar temple and other Lord Shiva shrines to perform the ritual.
