PUDUCHERRY: The JIPMER Anti Autonomy People’s Action Committee has termed the move by the JIPMER administration to fill Group C and D vacancies through open recruitment on all India basis as violation of Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act 1959 and the Central Government guidelines on recruitment. In a memorandum submitted to JIPMER Director K.S.V.K Subba Rao, the committee said that the open advertisement calling for application to the posts was a clear violation. They wanted to cancel the notification issued on July 16 in this regard. The memorandumsaid the Act made it mandatory that the Group C and D vacancies should be notified in the local Employment Exchanges. A notification outside the State would arise only when the local Employment Exchange issued a non-availability certificate of candidates possessing desired qualification or experience. The committee pointed out that there were about 1.4 lakh people registered in the local Employment Exchange. The administration’s move would only curtail chances those registered here, the memorandum added.
