Over 500 domestic violence complaints

NEW DELHI: More than 500 complaints have been reported so far under the Domestic Violence Act in the Capital this year. Since January 2007 a total of 534 complaints have been received by protection officers, service providers, police and magistrates, Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhury told the Rajya Sabha on Monday in reply to a question.

While the Delhi Government’s Department of Social Welfare received 71 complaints under the Act during January-March this year, the number went up to 89 during April-June, she said.
