DEHRA DUN: The lower wall of the Yamunotri shrine, the Mahila Kund and the Hanuman Temple there were partially damaged and four shops completely washed away in a flash flood on Sunday. A red alert was sounded in the Sharda Barrage area in Champawat district on Monday and movement of heavy vehicles stopped following a sudden increase in the river level. The Tanakpur-Tawaghat highway has been blocked by landslides. Similarly the Rudraprayag-Gaurikund road continues to be blocked for several hours every day due to frequent landslides at Bhatwadisen, the State Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre here said. Much damage has also been reported from the Gopeshwar, Guptkashi, Dewal, Munsyari and Pithoragarh areas.
