Datta Peetha case adjourned
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned further hearing on appeals by the Government on the Shree Guru Datta Peetha shrine at Baba Budan Giri in Chikmagalur district.
The State had appealed against a single judge order directing the Commissioner of Religious and Charitable Endowments to hear representations by the Datta Peetha Samvardhana Trust and others before passing orders on the religious rites and rituals being followed at the shrine.
A Division Bench, comprising Justice S.R. Bannurmath and Justice A.N. Venugopal Gowda, adjourned the case to August 29.
While the State is seeking a stay of the single judge order, the trust and other respondents, including two BJP MLAs C.T. Ravi and Sunil Kumar, said the interlocutory application by the State for stay is misconceived.
It said there has been no breach of peace even five months after the order of a single judge.
