Overwhelming: Salma Ansari

NEW DELHI: “It was awesome. Extremely over-whelming,” said Salma Ansari, wife of Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman, Hamid Ansari, on the proceedings of the House that welcomed her husband on Monday.

Ms. Ansari was seated in the VVIP gallery on the first day of her husband’s stewardship in the Rajya Sabha. She was accompanied by sons Suleman and Usman and a daughter-in-law.

A nephew, Rashid Ansari, was also present. They were escorted by Wasim Ahmed, former MP.

“The quality of [welcome] speeches was so good. I was overwhelmed by the kind of people and the wisdom they brought to this august body,” she said as she left.
