JAKARTA: An Indonesian woman died of bird flu over the weekend on Bali in the first recorded human fatality of the disease on the popular island resort, an official said on Monday. Two rounds of testing had confirmed the 29-year-old woman died on Sunday after contact with infected chickens, he said. Officials were also trying to determine if the woman’s 5-year-old daughter, who was cremated after dying on August 3, may also have had the virus, he said. The latest death brings the number of Indonesian fatalities to 82, out of 103 recorded human cases. It could also hurt tourism on Bali. — AP
