MLC extends support to artistes

TIRUPATI: Even as the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is concerned about the ongoing agitation by displaced artistes of its Annamacharya project assuming political dimensions, Vittapu Balasubramanyam, Member of Legislative Council with Leftist leanings, on Monday strongly defended the stir by the 120-odd artistes who were allegedly sidelined for the last 45 days by the management without allotting them any programmes in the name of subjecting them to ‘fresh screening’.
The MLC, who addressed the striking artistes at the CPI (M) office, criticised the TTD for trying to discard the artistes, and appealed to the TTD management to reinstate them immediately.
