Traffic arrangements for Independence Day

Only vehicles with parking labels will be allowed to reach the Red Fort

There will be no restrictions for vehicles heading to J.P. Hospital or any other hospital


NEW DELHI: The traffic police have placed certain restrictions on vehicular movement in the Capital in view of security arrangements for Independence Day celebrations.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Qamar Ahmed on Monday said Netaji Subhas Marg from Delhi Gate to Chhatta Rail, Lothian Road from Delhi GPO to Chhatta Rail, S.P.Mukherjee Marg from H.C.Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk, Chandni Chowk from Fountain to Red Fort Chowk, New Darya Ganj Road from Ring Road to Netaji Subhas Marg and Link Road from Esplanade Road to Netaji Subhas Marg will be closed to traffic from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on August 15.

To avoid inconvenience, motorists have been advised to take Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Mother Teresa Road and Rani Jhansi Road to reach their destinations in North Delhi and vice-versa. They can also reach Ajmeri Gate via Connaught Place, Minto Road, Bhavbhuti Marg and then take Shradhanand Marg, Chowk Lahori Gate, Naya Bazar, Pili Kothi, S.P. Mukherjee Marg/Pul Mithai and Qutab Road.

Commuters have been advised to avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Subhas Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizamuddin bridge and ISBT Bridge.

No commercial, transport and passenger vehicles will be allowed on Ring Road from 5 p.m. on Tuesday to 11 a.m. on August 15. Inter-State buses will not ply between Maharana Pratap Inter-State Bus Terminus and Sarai Kale Khan Terminus from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. Only vehicles with parking labels issued by the traffic police will be allowed to reach the Red Fort.

There will be no restrictions for vehicles heading to J.P. Hospital or any other hospital.
