India to release 72 Pakistani prisoners

NEW DELHI: India will release 72 Pakistanis lodged in its jails on Tuesday but expressed disappointment over the continued incarceration of a large number of Indians in Pakistani jails.

“We have noted that the Government of Pakistan has released 135 Indian prisoners [on Monday].

We had hoped in accordance with the decision at the Home Secretary level talks, all fishermen in custody would be released,” MEA spokesperson Navtej Sarna said on Monday.
