Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on Wednesday will give away forest medals for the first time since their inception. As many as 34 persons will receive the medals for the years 2005 and 2006. It will be given posthumously to forester T.A. Paul who died recently while discharging his duty. Twenty persons have been selected for the medals for 2005 and 15, including Paul, for 2006. The winners include P.G. Sudha, woman forest guard of Kuttampuzha Range. The forest medals, instituted along the lines of the police and fire service medals, are the brainchild of Forest Minister Benoy Viswom. — Special Correspondent
