PUDUCHERRY: Taking into account the future expansion needs of the Coast Guard station here, the maritime agency now requires additional 25 acres of land in Veerampattinam. About three years ago, the agency had approached the Government to allocate 25 acres of land for expanding the station. The Revenue Department had started the acquisition process a few months ago. The CG had made payments of Rs.28 lakh to the Puducherry Government for the ongoing acquisition process, according to senior CG officials. A team of CG men and senior police officers from the territorial police inspected sites in Veerampattinam on Monday. The CG wanted to expand the station into a full-fledged one as well as a base.
