BHUBANESWAR: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Khurda district, has decided to get marathon kid Budhia Singh counselled by a child psychologist to know the mental condition of the boy runner. “We need to know about the mental health of the boy so that we could give proper recommendations on the child’s rehabilitation. Child psychologists know how to handle kids who have faced any mental stress,” CWC Chairman Justice R.S. Mishra said here on Tuesday. He said it was necessary to incorporate the views of experts in the inquiry report, which will be submitted very soon. Budhia and his mother Sukanti Singh were summoned by the CWC, a quasi-judiciary body, after the duo told the media that coach Biranchi Das was inflicting physical torture on the child. Justice Mishra and other members of the CWC recorded the statements of Budhia and Sukanti separately to ascertain the veracity of the allegations. Many of the members noticed that the child was behaving ‘impatiently’ for his age. The boy’s age, however, could not be ascertained as doctors were waiting the ossification test report.
