RRC silver jubilee celebrations on August 20
Udupi: Vice-Chancellor of the Dravidian University, Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, G. Lakshminarayana will inaugurate the silver jubilee programme of the Regional Resources Centre (RRC) of Folk Performing Arts here on August 20. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Director of the centre Heranje Krishna Bhat said that as part of the celebrations, the centre would be showing its various documented works of folk arts to students in 50 select schools. It would be organising a unique function every month for the next 12 months. Interaction programme with eminent personalities would be held. Award
Prof. Bhat said that the Ku. Shi. Haridasa Bhat Memorial Function would be held on August 20 to coincide with the silver jubilee function. The K.S. Haridasa Bhat Award for 2007, instituted by the National Folklore Support Centre, Chennai, would be given to the folklorist Mudenur Sanganna. Mr. Sanganna hails from Chigateri in Bellary district. A poet and dramatist, he has specialised in the study of folk culture.
