India at 60

A person retires at the age of 60 in India. Today, independent India is 60. Should it rest content with what it has achieved in all these years? The answer, obviously, is a big ‘no.’ Like the new-age Indian seeking new jobs at 60, India should also reinvent itself, undertake new ventures and more challenging tasks, and move up the growth ladder. Its past should become a milestone to its future. This will set new targets for young India. The achievements of 60 years will keep India moving towards achieving higher goals.

Harini Chavali,

Hyderabad

Hats off to a nation that has overcome social tensions, external aggression, and internal disturbances, and progressed in all fields, besides standing its ground on secularism, social justice, and democracy. Let us learn from the mistakes of the past and look forward to a country that is free from illiteracy, caste divide, insecure minorities, and problems of environment. India certainly has a great future. All it needs is a politically strong and visionary leadership.

Ramakrishna Thakur,

Chirala
