REACHING A MILESTONE: Pawan Goenka (left), President, Automotives Sector, and Keshub Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra & Mahindra, at a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday.
MUMBAI: Mahindra & Mahindra has commemorated the rolling out of its two-millionth vehicle by announcing that it would donate two Scorpios to leading non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The two NGOs are: the U.P.-based Sri Ram Krishna Sewa Sadan Cancer Hospital and Research Institute and the Udaipur-based Naandi Foundation. Speaking on the occasion, Keshub Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group, said, “As India celebrates her 60th Independence Day, it is fitting that a company that brought the jeep to the country in the early 1950s is now celebrating rolling out of its two-millionth vehicle. I am happy that we are using occasions like these to give back in a small measure to the society.” According to Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive Sector, M&M, the company will export Scorpio SUV and pick-up in semi-knocked down (SKD) condition and assembled in Brazil by Bramont, a local player. Exports to Brazil will commence by the year-end and start with around 5,000 units. Exports to Egypt will also be in SKD condition and will commence by the end of this fiscal year with an initial figure of around 4,000 units per annum.
