Special passport counter at Haj House

Staff Reporter

Regional Passport Officer urges people not to seek the help of brokers

The special counter will function for 15 days from August 21

Similar facility soon for pilgrims proceeding through private tour operators

Hyderabad: The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Hyderabad, will open a special counter at the Haj House, Nampally, for issuing passports to persons going on Umrah pilgrimage. The special counter will function for 15 days from August 21.

The RPO will provide a similar facility for pilgrims proceeding on Haj through private tour operators from November 10.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Regional Passport Officer B. Bala Bhaskar urged people not to make rounds of the Passport office or seek the help of brokers. Passports will be given within five days, provided all the required documents are furnished, he said.

Documents

All one needs to provide is any three of the 15 prescribed documents. One of them should be a photo identity document besides proof of residence, date of birth and educational qualifications.

The 15 documents are: Electoral photo identity card, service identity card issued by the State, Central Government, PSU and local bodies, freedom fighter ID, arms licenses, property documents, ration cards, pension documents, railway identity cards, PAN card, bank/kisan/post office passbooks, student identity cards, driving licenses, gas connection bill.

Under the Tatkal scheme, there would be no police verification. The concerned MRO or the Station House Officer can issue the verification certificate, Mr. Bala Bhaskar said.

State Haj Committee Chairman Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed said passports for the pilgrims would be issued based on endorsement by the Haj Committee. Last year 400 passports were issued by the special counter opened at Haj House.
