Squad to probe kidney racket

BANGALORE: The State Government is planning to establish a squad comprising officials of the Police, Law and Health departments to unearth the enormity of the trade in kidneys.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare R. Ashok told presspersons here on Tuesday that the kidney racket had spread to other States and several hospitals and nursing homes in Bangalore and in other States appeared to be involved. A meeting of officials of the three departments would be called soon to set up the squad, which would be asked to identify loopholes in the exiting law and the verification system.
