Sirsa becomes 100 per cent CFL district

Chandigarh: Sirsa in Haryana has achieved the distinction of becoming the first district of the country to totally switch over to use of Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL), thereby saving 60MW of electricity and effecting a saving of Rs 9 crore per month.

A spokesperson of the State electricity board said here on Wednesday the task of replacement of all electricity-guzzling incandescent bulbs with CFLs had started in May last year and completed in four months. -- PTI
