Independence Day in Karaikal

KARAIKAL: Independence Day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour here on Wednesday.

Minister for Social Welfare M. Kandasamy hoisted the National Flag and took the salute at the police parade at new stadium here. Collector N. Vasantha Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Sindhu Pillai participated. The Minister distributed prizes to the students who secured ranks in the SSLC and Plus-Two public examinations held in March this year. K. Anjaneyulu, GGM-Asset Manager, ONGC, Cauvery Asset, Karaikal, hoisted the national flag on the Cauvery Asset premises at Neravy. He inspected the parade by the ONGC security personnel and schoolchildren. — Special Correspondent
