Mumbai: One of Maharashtra’s most wanted dacoits who led a gang operating in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh has been arrested along with two accomplices. “We arrested Suresh Bhaurao Shinde alias Surya and his accomplices from a village near Karad on Tuesday,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria told reporters here. Shinde (33) allegedly had been active on the crime scene since 1991 and was the kingpin of an inter-State gang which operated in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh as well, he said. Shinde’s two accomplices have been identified as Kalyan Shinde alias Raja (22) and Rajendra Kale alias Pintya (21), Mr. Maria said. Surya, who hails from Osmanabad district in Marathwada region, had jumped bail in a dacoity case in January this year, he added.
