Kite-flying causes power cuts in city

NEW DELHI: Owing to “manjhas” (special threads) used in kite-flying, many areas in the Capital had to bear power cuts on Independence Day.

According to sources, more than 30 instances of power tripping were reported from South Delhi and West Delhi and 20 instances from East Delhi and Central Delhi. Another 48 trippings were reported in Delhi Transco Limited wires. To rectify matters, 66 emergency vans and additional manpower were put on the roads.
