‘Scrap Class VII common exam’

HYDERABAD: The AP State Teachers’ Union, reacting to the Government’s decision to do away with the Seventh Class Common Examination said on Wednesday it was better to do so since half of the schools did not have subject teachers. K. Narasimha Reddy, president, and A. Lakshman, general secretary, said shortage of teachers was having an adverse impact on education standards. Thousands of teacher posts - 6,526 (maths/science), 6,739 (language pandits) and 6,557 (social studies) -- in 11,423 schools were not sanctioned. –Special Correspondent
