Mysore: Unseeded local lad Vikas Hansoge registered an upset win over top seed Mohammed Shahbaaz 6-3, 6-3 to make semifinals in the boys’ under-16 singles section of the Karnataka State ranking junior tennis tournament (for under-14 and under-16 boys and girls) in Mysore on Wednesday. In another upset, sixth seed Manoj Bhatija of Mysore shocked top seed S.D. Prajwal Dev 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in the boys’ under-14 singles quarterfinals. Second seed S. Yashas was shown the door by unseeded Mahesh A. Bhatija in a keenly-contested tie in the boys’ under-16 singles quarterfinals.
