‘Remember sacrifices of freedom fighters’

Chamarajanagar: District in-charge Minister H.S. Mahadev Prasad on Wednesday stressed the need for remembering the sacrifices made by the leaders who had fought for the country’s freedom.
He was speaking after hoisting the tricolour at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium here.
He said under the leadership of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, the coalition Government had formulated many pro-people programmes and made efforts to implement them in a short period.
Mr. Prasad said that efforts were on to develop the backward district of Chamarajanagar. He said district was proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary of formation. He recalled the contribution of former Chief Minister J.H. Patel to the formation of Chamarajanagar district.
He said steps had been taken to tap Chamarajanagar’s tourism potential.
Presiding over the function, president of the Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha and Chamarajanagar MLA Vatal Nagaraj urged the people to participate in nation-building activities.
Schoolchildren presented cultural programmes and freedom fighters were felicitated. Deputy Commissioner K. Vishwanath Reddy, Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat Jayaram, and Superintendent of Police Srikantappa were among those present.
