Vintage ‘beauties’ cast a spell

Classic cars and motorcycles take part in rally and show

SIMPLY MAJESTIC: Cars of yore on display at Lumbini Park on Wednesday.

HYDERABAD: The stunning beauties strode on the city roads in style and leaving spectators spell-bound even as the nation was celebrating its Independence Day.

Gorgeous to say the least, the curvy figures were in deed showcasing their vintage charm and attracting the young and the connoisseurs.

The vintage classic cars and motorcycle rally and show organised by the Deccan Heritage Automobile Association in association with Department of Tourism brought back romantic memories for hundreds car lovers who descended on the show venue at Lumbini Park. Old bikes and several modified ones too were part of the show. Gleaming, the lustrous vehicles included famous makes like Austen, Ford, Plymouth, Dodge, Rolls Royce, BSA, Norton, Triumph and Royal Enfields. Casting a spell on the visitors were some of the new additions of the car collectors like Norton Manx, Ariel Square Four and Indian Chief 1250 CC.

Oldest car

The oldest car on the show was the 1919 model Wolseley owned by Ram Pratap Agarwal. The majestic piece in white was the cynosure of all eyes. “The idea of the show was to promote Hyderabad as a tourist destination for such car lovers and also expose these great machines to the younger generation,” says Balasubrahmanyam Reddy, Joint Director, Tourism.

More than 50 cars and 70 bikes participated in the show that was inaugurated by the Minister for I&PR Anam Ramnarayan Reddy.
