AKG AKG is an acronym with profound meaning. It is synonymous with struggles for the uplift of the downtrodden. A.K. Gopalan was, in the true sense, a leader of the masses. The viewer realises this after watching the 70-minute docu-fiction ‘AKG’ directed by Shaji N. Karun. The film, scripted by PVK Panayal, throws light on the life of a towering personality. ‘AKG’ opens with people being forcefully evicted from homes in the name of development. AKG intervenes and exhorts people to stand up to the authorities’ dictates. While G. Sasidharan captures on frame some of the rare moments in AKG’s life, the lyrics are by ONV Kurup, S. Ramesan, Ezhacherry Ramachandran and Kunjappa Pattannur. The other poems are scored by Johnson. Theatre artiste P. Sreekumar plays AKG. ‘AKG’ is produced by the Kasaragod Purogamana Kala Sahitya Sanghom and Sakthi Theatres (Abudhabi). G. Jayakumar
