Two women commit suicide

NEW DELHI: A 44-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself at G.B. Pant Hospital here on Wednesday.

The police received a call from the hospital authorities around 7 a.m. informing that Vijayalakshmi, wife of Ramesh Babu, who was admitted to Ward No. 2, had hanged herself from the ceiling fan with a “chunni”.

Vijayalakshmi was suffering from a mental illness and had been under treatment for the past 12 years. In another incident, 37-year-old Sarita Pathak allegedly jumped off the fifth floor of her Sukhdev Vihar house in South Delhi around 3-45 p.m.
