The police are still not clear about the motive behind the attack on Mona Rajeev is also a close friend of Naveen and used to visit his residence quite often
NEW DELHI: In a new twist to the attack on fashion designer Mona Suri, who was set ablaze outside her Greater Kailash-II house this past weekend, a colleague of her husband has now come under the police scanner. Rajeev, a colleague of Mona’s husband Naveen who was initially summoned for questioning on Tuesday, was again quizzed at the Chittaranjan Park police station on Wednesday in connection with the attack. According to the police, Rajeev is also a close friend of Naveen and used to visit his residence quite often. It is learnt that the police have come across evidence indicating that Rajeev may have some information about the case. They have found that minutes before Mona was attacked, he had received a call from a South Delhi public telephone booth. The police are trying to verify his movements and cross-checking the veracity of the disclosures made by him. “Right now, he is just a suspect,” said a police officer. The police are still not clear about the motive behind the attack on Mona. Initial investigations had raised suspicion about the involvement of her husband and then his woman colleague Rachna, but nothing concrete had emerged. The two assailants are yet to be identified. The police have so far found out that Naveen was close to Rachna and Mona knew about it. Investigations have also revealed that from August 5 to 11, the day Mona was attacked, Naveen – who was then in Goa -- was in regular touch with Rachna. He had allegedly got another number issued from there for the purpose. The police have also found that after Naveen came to know about the incident on August 11 night, he allegedly called up Rachna. The conversation lasted just a few seconds during which Rachna denied her involvement.
