Staff Reporter
Thiruvananthapuram: The Army has said that no arms were carried inside the Medical College Hospital on August 11. Responding to the report, titled ‘Army starts inquiry into MCH incident,’ that appeared in these columns on August 14, Defence Public Relations Officer Prakash Magdum said in a communication on Wednesday that the hospital authorities were reluctant to admit an Army’s officer son who was injured in an accident at Shangumugham on August 11 night. When a Commanding Officer (CO) along with two or three officers reached there and had conversation about getting the injured admitted since he was profusely bleeding, still they did not listen. The hospital authorities immediately discharged him. Then, the CO called for a Unit Ambulance so that he could be shifted to another hospital. Normally, a Unit Ambulance moves with one escort. But they were parked in the parking area and at no time they entered the hospital. After all this, the injured was admitted and taken for treatment, Mr. Magdum said.
