17 titles of the university curriculum in list Popular Malayalam works included
KOTTAYAM: The Department of Printing and Publishing at Mahatma Gandhi University has decided to give away books worth Rs.5 lakh to rural libraries in the district. According to Kurian Thomas, director, these include 21,000 copies of 17 titles which formed part of the University curriculum at various stages. Creative works of noted writers in Malayalam and Hindi, including short stories, poetry and essays form part of this unique collection, he said. The popular Malayalam works Kathamalika and Samanwayam, and collection of poetry Prabhavom, Prasadom, Pravahom, Prayanom, Paripreshyam and Saurabhom will be distributed free to the rural libraries. The initiate is being undertaken with active involvement of the District Library Council. Inauguration
The formal inauguration of the scheme will be held at Vaikom on Friday. Vice-Chancellor Jancy James will inaugurate the scheme. P.K. Harikumar, municipal chairman and member of MG University Syndicate, will preside.
