Girl’s murder: life term for accused

PATHANAMTHITTA: Krishna Pillai, 47, of Haripad Amruthethu Vadakkethil, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Additional District and Sessions Court here on Thursday in connection with the murder of a three-and-a-half –year-old girl at Parakode, near Adoor on December 4, 2005.

Additional District and Sessions Judge T.U. Mathewkutty said the court had found the accused guilty of abduction, molestation and murder of the Tamil girl, Nallakka who was eking out a living by seeking alms in the streets.

The girl’s body was found buried in the compound of an under-construction house at Parkode. The prosecution produced the results of the DNA test of the accused conducted at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Bio-technology in Thiruvananthapuram before the court. Government pleader C.O. Ipe and Biju Manjanikkara, lawyer, appeared for the prosecution. The accused would be taken to Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail.
