Complaint redressal: Minister for Weaker Section Housing Programme Botsa Satyanarayana launching the toll-free number of ‘Indiramma’ scheme as A. K. Parida, Principal Secretary Housing, and APHB Managing Director Reddy Subramanyam look on.

HYDERABAD: In the face of the increasing number of complaints of irregularities in the Indiramma housing scheme, the State Government has launched a toll-free helpline, “Indiramma Parishkaram” (complaint redressal service), to enable people register their grievances with officials concerned.

The number 1100 will be available across the State through BSNL phones and users’ grievances will be addressed within seven days of the lodging of the complaint.

Users calling the number will be given a unique “Docket Number” while a message about the grievance will be sent to the officials concerned the moment the grievance is entered into the computer.

Four levels

The complaint will be automatically passed on to the official at the next level if it is not redressed by the official concerned within the stipulated timeframe and to the next level thereafter. The escalation process involves four levels with the Housing Corporation managing director placed at the highest level. To be operated in association with eSeva, the system enables users to find out the status of their grievance by mentioning the docket number provided to them to the operator concerned.

Housing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, who formally launched the helpline, said the complainants could bring lapses, if any, to the notice of the officials as also the information pertaining to genuine beneficiaries left out in the selection process.

Four other numbers had been provided to users – 27762410, 27762840, 27762417 and 27724440 – to register their complaints, but they should bear call costs.

Responding to questions on the controversy raging over naming the Kukatpally Housing Board Colony after Rajiv Gandhi, he said the Telugu Desam and BJP were trying to politicise the issue and people of the locality did not oppose the move.

Housing Secretary A.K. Parida, Housing Corporation MD R. Subramanyam and senior officials were present.
