Dam breaches

Sirsi: A dam at Chigalli in Mundgod taluk breached on Tuesday evening damaging paddy crop in 500 acres of land. More than 10 heads of cattle have been washed away in the flood. The reservoir comprises 186 hectares of land which was full due to heavy rain. Owing to the breach in the wall of the dam which is 25 feet wide and 25 feet deep, traffic on the highway between Hubli and Sirsi was blocked. Mundgod tahshildar and other officials visited the spot. — Correspondent
