BANGALORE: Members of the Kannada Ranadheera Pade, Karnataka, on Thursday held a demonstration protesting against the “anti-Kannada” policies being followed by the administration of South Western Railway (SWR). The members, who assembled near the Divisional Railway Manager’s office of SWR here under the leadership of R.S.N. Gowda, alleged that the SWR had been facilitating non-Kannadigas to get employment under the Group D recruitment process. Mr. Gowda, in a letter to SWR General Manager Praveen Kumar, said that the recruitment rules had been framed so as to help non-Kannadigas to get employment. The recruitment notification dated July 21, inviting applications to fill 4,701 Group D vacancies in SWR and the Rail Wheel Factory, Yelahanka, had not been published in Kannada newspapers and there was no provision to submit application forms in Kannada. According to the guidelines framed by the Central Government, all Group D posts should be reserved for local candidates, he said.
