KURNOOL: Eighty-seven meritorious students from government-run hostels and schools, who got admission to corporate colleges under Vidyanidhi scheme, spent their evening with collector M. Dana Kishore and other senior officers including district judge Sunil Choudary, DIG of Police KRM Kishore Kumar and SP B. Malla Reddy here on Wednesday.
The collector, who hosts the customary ‘At Home’ function in the evening of every Independence Day to treat officers, converted the meeting into an interface between the donors and students.
Mr. Kishore mobilized money for the scheme and pooled nearly Rs. 70 lakhs so far. The boys and girls, who scored 500 marks and above in the SSC examination, secured admission to corporate colleges.
Get-together
Mr. Kishore utilized the get-together to introduce the students to the donors and tell them that because of their philanthropy the students could pursue education in corporate colleges.
According to him, the task was bigger as he could accommodate only 87 out of 500 students who were eligible for favour.
Aparna, wife of Mr. Kishore, SP B. Malla Reddy and others distributed clothes to all students at the end of the function.
