Youth throng job mela

KADAPA: Youth aspiring for jobs turned out in good number and representatives of 16 companies participated in a two-day mega job mela conducted on the Government junior college premises in Pulivendula on Thursday.

Computer sciences and information technology sectors offered tremendous scope for employment, Kadapa MP Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy said.

The Government was striving to generate employment for 10 lakh youth with cooperation of various companies, he said. Urging jobless youth to register themselves at the Assembly constituency-level, Kadapa MP Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy said, the Government was giving a pocket money of Rs. 1,700 to eligible youth.

The Government allotted Rs. 17 crore to impart job-oriented training to 17,000 youth in Kadapa district, District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said. Youth would get better chances of securing jobs if they became fluent in conversing in English language, he stated. Those not finding placement in a job mela could participate in training camps and try their luck in subsequent job melas, he said.

Companies which participated in the job mela included Eureka Forbes, Bajaj Allianz, Idea, Maytas, Protex, UTI Mutual Fund, Sriram Life Insurance, Big C, ICICI Prudential, Ever Green, EMRI 108 Service, G4S and National Academy of Construction.

DRDA project director G. Ashok Reddy, CEO of STEP B. Maheswara Reddy, district manager of housing D. Selavaraj, OSD of Pulivendula B. Krishnamohan Reddy and Pulivendula municipal chairperson D. Rukmini participated.
