Annual convention of ARTSCO begins

Honouring the deserving: Minister for Law and Technical Education R. Chenga Reddy felicitating an APSRTC employee at the inaugural of ARTSCO’s cultural meet in Tirupati on Thursday.

TIRUPATI: The 32nd annual convention of ARTSCO, the cultural and sports wing of APSRTC employees, got off to a colourful start here on Thursday.

Interestingly, the temple city is playing host to the event in its platinum jubilee year.

Speaking after inaugurating the state-level event, the Minister for Law and Technical Education R. Chenga Reddy exhorted the employees to leave no stone unturned to keep alive the dormant embers of revolution achieved by the corporation, by securing a place in the Guinness Book.

He expressed surprise at the corporation being run satisfactorily on all fronts and attributed it to the tireless efforts of each of the 1.25 lakh employees at various levels.

Pertinent point

While congratulating the employees on one hand, the minister drove home a pertinent point on the futility of taking to warpath.

He appealed to them to eschew violent confrontation with the management during agitations and strikes and asked them to settle matters peacefully and fruitfully across the table.

Mr.Reddy felicitated five leading artistes viz., V.Raghavachary, Ramachandra Rao, J.S.R. Anjaneyulu, Syed Ameer Basha and Girija Bai on the occasion.

Executive Directors Rameswar Rao, G.Somasekhar Rao, and the host M.Suryaprakasa Rao, Regional Manager, Tirupati among others were present.
