“No shortage of coins”

Staff Reporter

KOLKATA: There is no shortage of coins and their availability for use by members of public, shops and commercial establishments, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) authorities said here on Thursday. “There is no dearth from the RBI side,” said B. Mahapatra, its Regional Director for West Bengal and Sikkim, at a press meet, on reports that coins were being smuggled out of the country and being melted for their metal value. But he said demand for coins in the region had risen.
