Over 8,000 youth to benefit from Rajiv Udyoga Sri

Srikakulam: Minister for Forests Satrucherla Vijayaramaraju on Thursday said that as part of the Rajiv Udyoga Sri scheme, which is aimed at ensuring employment to youth, some 8,000 persons were identified in the district for imparting training, leading to absorption in suitable jobs.
Budgetary provision was made for the scheme, the Minister, who is in charge of the district, added.
The scheme envisaged creation of one million jobs in the State in two years. As part of this, 25,000 jobs would be created in each district every year. Youth would be identified and imparted training free of cost.
Reviewing the scheme here, the Minister said that centres for training were also identified.
They included the Training and Technical Development Centre, Etcherla, the Andhra Bank Institute of Rural Development, Amadalavalasa, the Nagavali Institute of Rural Entrepreneural Development, Rajam.
The programme would be formally launched on September 15. District Collector V.N. Vishnu, ITDA Project Director Surinder, Project Director, District Water Management Agency, Suryabhagavan and others were present. Later, speaking to newsmen, the Minister said that the medical college at Srikakulam and the Government Degree College in Sitampeta would function from next year.
He said that with a view to protecting forests, 8,660 vana samrakshana samithis were set up under the Joint Forest Management scheme.
